Q? How deep is the river? 

A. The river averages 2 - 3 feet and flows About 4 to 5 miles an hour with no white water rapids.

Q? Is kayaking and canoeing safe for beginners?

A. Yes! The river is fun and safe for all ages and levels of experience. We are happy to outfit you in a boat that best suits your needs. Just ask a staff member for recommendations.

Q? What should we bring with us on our river trip?

A.

  • Please leave your valuables at home. DO NOT leave valuables in your vehicle. Campbell’s is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Bring water or other drinks in non-glass containers, preferably reusable containers. We sell water, pop, and Gatorade should you forget to bring hydration.

  • Don’t forget the sunscreen. It is best to apply it before you arrive at the dock. If you do forget or need to reapply, we have individual sunscreen packets for sale at the hut.

  • We sell dry bags and boxes of various sizes. They are good for car keys, cell phones, cameras and small personal items.

Q? Is alcohol allowed on the river?

A. Yes, Alcohol is allowed on the river. However, it is illegal to operate a water vessel under the influence.

Please note that we do not allow Jell-O shots, glass bottles, or styrofoam coolers on the river!!!

Also, please remember that members of your party will have to drive after you have completed your river trip. Do not get caught driving under the influence.

Q? Can we bring our own watercraft?

Yes, we offer shuttle services for those who wish to use their own watercraft.

Q? Can we bring our dog in the canoe or kayak?

A. Yes, friendly pets are welcome. Leashes are required. Please pick up after your pet.

However, while we love all dogs, we only allow them in the canoes and kayaks-- not tubes.

Q? Does Campbell's provide on-site lodging?

A. While campbell's does not provide on-site lodging, we are happy to suggest a few trusted cabin rentals, campgrounds, and inns/lodges in the area. You can find our list here.

Q? Will Campbell's pick us up after we are finished with our trip?

A. Simply put; No. but we do provide a great car spotting service to each customer purchasing a rental with a vehicle FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

When you arrive at Campbell’s, you will first be instructed to fill out our safety waiver and pay your bill at our front desk. you will Then get in your vehicle, follow one of our drivers down river to your chosen take-out point (steckert, chase, smith bridges), leave your vehicle in the parking lot, get in the vehicle with our driver who will bring you back to your starting point at campbell's (or chase bridge if you are completing the chase to smith trip.)

We understand this is confusing. however, we are experts at car spotting and we work very hard to make sure every customer understands this process before you begin your trip with us.

Q? What forms of payment do you accept?

A. Campbell's accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and cash for your convenience. 

Q? Do you charge a deposit on reservations?

A. On groups of 10 boats/tubes or larger we require a 25% deposit of the total rental at least one week before your reservation.

Q? What is your cancellation/ refund policy?

A: If you know you need to cancel, please do so at least 1 day in advance.

Reservation No-Shows will be charged the full amount on Holiday weekends and Saturday’s in July/August.

Refunds will given for inclement weather if you choose not to go on the river.

If you choose to paddle with us during inclement weather, refunds will NOT be issued.

Q? How many people can fit inside a boat or tube?

  • You may only fit 1 person per tube.

  • You may only fit 1 person per single kayak.

  • You may only fit 2 people per double kayak

  • You may only fit 4 persons in a canoe (not exceeding 650lbs)

Q? Do we need to bring our own paddles, cushions, and life vests?

A. No. Campbell's will provide everything you need to safely go down the river.

Each person will be supplied with a paddle and life saving device, which are included in your rental price.

Type I or II life vests are mandatory for children 6 years or younger and are provided free of charge.

Q? Are there trash cans at the landings?

A. No. Please bring trash bags to carry your trash out with you. 

Q? Is there a place to purchase grocery items for our trip?

A. Yes, there is a Glen's Family Fare in downtown Roscommon, as well as a local coffee shop and butcher shop that both sell great lunch items to take with you on the river

TO HELP US KEEP THE RIVER CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL, PLEASE DO NOT BRING STYROFOAM COOLERS, GLASS CONTAINERS OR JELLO SHOTS.

CANOES DO TIP ON OCCASION; HAVE A WAY TO SECURE YOUR CAR KEY, PLEASE KEEP ALL TRASH AND EMPTY CANS IN A CONTAINER TIED TO THE INSIDE OF YOUR KAYAK, TUBE OR CANOE.

PLAN TO PACK YOUR TRASH OUT WITH YOU AS THERE ARE NO TRASH CONTAINERS AT LANDINGS.

IMPORTANT: ALL BOATS AND TUBES NEED TO BE OFF THE RIVER BY 6:00 P.M.
